About Me
I had to choose a major two years after coming to the United States. Growing up in Korea, I never once thought about pursuing art; I didn’t think of myself as having a special talent for art. But somehow, I suddenly wanted to start drawing. I enrolled in a community college at 24 years old, took some drawing classes, and found them quite enjoyable. Then, I transferred to Eastern Michigan University and graduated with a degree in Fine Art.
Despite graduating, I still knew very little about art. I liked painting more than drawing, so I began practicing on my own, buying paints and brushes, but I struggled for a long period. Even though I was having some health issues at the time, my passion for art never faded. I started learning by copying other people's works, through books, and lessons on the internet.
Then, I began asking myself deep questions about why I wanted to create art. "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." (1 Corinthians 10:31). I create art for the glory of God. My hope is that through my art, many people will feel God's love, be comforted, and find healing. I also want to use part of the proceeds from my art to help orphans around the world.
Seeing well-matched natural colors makes me happy and brings me joy. It makes me want to paint those colors. It’s also fun to add my own imaginative colors to the objects and spaces I see. I want to use these unique creations of mine to help others.
